North Mississippi Rural Legal Services (NMRLS) is a non profit tax-exempt organization providing free civil representation to low-income persons in the northern 39 counties of Mississippi.

If you are a new client seeking assistance, please call our Call Center at 1-800-498-1804 and follow the prompts. assistance. The call center hours are Monday–Thursday from 9:30-3:30.

Mississippi Access to Justice Commission

The mission of the Access to Justice Commission is to develop a unified strategy to improve access to justice in civil legal proceedings for the poor in Mississippi. Free Legal Answers

Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic. Qualifying users post their civil legal questions to their state’s website. Users will then be emailed when their question receives a response. Attorney volunteers, who must be authorized to provide pro bono assistance in their state, log in to the website, select questions to answer, and provide legal information and advice. Volunteer attorneys will not answer criminal law questions. Check out Mississippi’s page to get started today.

Mississippi Center for Justice – Expungement Services

The Mississippi Center for Justice currently assists individuals seeking an expungement of their record in all 82 counties of Mississippi. The Center will aid you in this process by providing you with the necessary self-help tools. It will help you gather proper documents from the court and/or the arresting agency, draft a petition and order for expungement, and provide “Next Steps” instructions for pro-se filing in the appropriate court.
