For sixty years, North Mississippi Rural Legal Services (NMRLS) has been a lifeline for individuals and families facing legal challenges they cannot navigate alone. Since 1966, we have worked to ensure that access to justice is not determined by income, providing free civil legal assistance to vulnerable communities throughout North Mississippi.

As we celebrate our 60th Anniversary Gala on August 8, 2026, at the Oxford Conference Center, we invite you to be part of this historic milestone. Our goal is to raise $60,000 to modernize our intake systems, strengthen client services, and expand our advocacy efforts so that we can continue serving those who need us most.

GALA DETAILS

Date & Time: Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Location: Oxford Conference Center

Attire: Semi-Formal to Formal (Theme Colors: Black & Gold)

The Evening’s Program:

  • 6:00 PM – Reception & Mingling: Kick off the night with drinks, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and live music provided by the incredible Ms. Effie Burt and the band.
  • 6:30 pm - Welcome & Greeting: Hosted by The Honorable William L. "Bill" Waller, Jr., former Chief Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court.
  • Dinner & Reflections: Enjoy a formal dinner accompanied by an Invocation, special video messages, and a powerful historical overview capturing NMRLS's 60-year legacy of advocacy.
  • Keynote Address: We are deeply honored to feature civil rights trailblazer The Honorable Constance Slaughter-Harvey as our keynote speaker.
  • Awards & Call to Action: Following the keynote, we will host our annual awards ceremony, which will conclude with an inspiring call to action by Ray Shoemaker, Founder and CEO of MedAdvo.
  • 8:30 PM – Acknowledgements & Closing: A final thank you to all the partners, staff, and supporters who make our mission possible.
